Spring 2010

Hello friends and family and anyone who may stumble across this. The yard is coming in beautifully so far our Irises are coming in really great this year! The peonies are starting to pop like little fireworks across the back yard and the vegetable garden wintered over well, we have full big broccoli's, a bunch of leeks which I've already made into a ton of soup, lettuce, spinach, fava, strawberries raspberries, blueberries the list goes on! We got 2 old blueberries that we put in, and they are Huge. I got into canning last year and ended up canning a ton of tomato sauce which i think will last maybe 2 more dinners. Maybe this year I'll can enough to make it all the way into the new tomato season, that would be pretty cool. So the goal of trying to be completely subsistent isnt quite there, but our food bills go down significantly in the summer so that's good, right?

We've added to our flock, with the addition of our new birds Mohawk is happy to not be on the bottom of the pecking order. The new girls are Shino, Judy, Lucretia, and Coco. Our egg variety is going to be a cornucopia of colors! Well here are some pics, Yay for Spring!
